Deputy Manager – Basildon Ofsted Children’s Home

A Role Where Support, Progression & Purpose Come Together

When one of our team members joined SV Care six months ago, they quickly realised this wasn’t like other organisation they’d worked for.

What stood out first was the genuine level of support. From access to a dedicated Welfare and Development Officer to approachable, hands‑on senior leaders, SV Care puts staff wellbeing and growth at the heart of everything it does. The Responsible Individual regularly visits the homes, offers guidance, and remains consistently available, creating a culture where staff feel supported, not isolated.

Even early on, meaningful conversations about development and progression take place. At SV Care, growth isn’t delayed, it’s encouraged. We actively develop our people because we want today’s Support Workers to become tomorrow’s Deputy and Registered Managers.

It’s this same commitment that drives the care we provide to children and young people. Our teams go above and beyond to build meaningful relationships, understand individual needs, and create safe, positive environments. Whether celebrating achievements, supporting young people through challenges, or offering consistent care during difficult moments, the dedication across our homes is clear.

Now, as we open a new  Ofsted‑registered children’s residential provision in Basildon, we’re looking for an experienced Deputy Manager to join us.

This role is ideal for someone who is committed, passionate, and works with honesty and integrity at all times. As the Deputy Manager, you must have the ability to connect with those you meet and build meaningful, productive working relationships.

Key Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):

  • Safeguard and promote the welfare, safety and wellbeing of children and young people at all times.
  • Support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day leadership and operation of the home, deputising in their absence.
  • Lead, supervise, coach and develop staff to deliver high-quality, child-centred care and support.
  • Ensure compliance with Children’s Homes Regulations, Quality Standards, safeguarding requirements and company policies.
  • Promote positive behaviour support, equality, diversity and inclusion throughout the home.
  • Build effective relationships with children, families, social workers, local authorities and other professionals.
  • Contribute to care planning, reviews, risk assessments and multi-agency meetings.
  • Monitor staff performance, training, development and adherence to best practice.
  • Support rota management, staffing levels and on-call responsibilities as required.
  • Maintain a safe, clean and nurturing environment that supports positive outcomes for young people.
  • Assist in preparing for and responding to inspections, audits and regulatory requirements, including Ofsted.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, professional development and outstanding practice.
